Ireland and UK before 1921 Treaty

Create Map

Ireland was part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. This is prior to the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty. Ireland had an aggressive guerrilla warfare campaign against the occupied Irish Island. The Southern Irish wanted to secede from the United Kingdom while Northern Ireland stayed with the UK as a devolved government where they retained legislative authority over their own country. That was the compromise of the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921.
