Abnormal discharge from a refinery of approximately 1000 kg of benzene, toluene and xylene into a sewer which drains to Telford Creek and St. Clair River; Wallaceburg and Walpole drinking water intakes were both closed for two days as the contamination moved down the river; a related fish kill was reported and the incident resulted in a conviction under the Ontario Environmental Protection Act.
