Area of Persian and Assyrian Empires

How much bigger was the Persian empire than the Assyrian empire? I think that the Persian Empire is bigger because on the map in the book, the Persian Empire took up more area on the map than the Assyrian Empire, and because it goes from Africa to the Indies river, whereas the Assyrian Empire only stretches across the Fertile Crescent. Which all suggests that it is like five times bigger.
